Software Product Management, and it's inevitable intricacies.

Hello! I am Aaron Anderson, I previously used to work in Product Management in the Industrial Sensing industry, with a special niche in the Water and Waste Water industry. Now, after getting a degree in Chemical Engineering, this was a local step forward, but to seek some advancement and ride where I felt the world was heading, to future digital frontiers, I decided to pivot my career into Software Product Management.

Initial Thoughts and Where I am Now

You might be curious if there are overlaps between these two industries? Is Product Management a universal skillset that does not matter between industries? Are your jobs the same between these industries?

To answer these, I did have the thoughts that Product Management was indeed Product Management. A roadmap will be a roadmap, priorities will be priorities, and resources... well resources will also be sparse and tightly constrained. I still feel that there is a large overlap between industries as a Product Manager, even though HR will not see this as the case. You will forever be fighting for what you believe will be the best for the product line, and convincing those with the say so as well.

What is Next?

I hope this blog can grab someone's attention as I brain vomit the experiences I have had in this field and where I can see technology and the world moving towards. Hopefully I can enlighten some of those who are thinking of transitioning into this field, and give some further assistance as I develop this blog forward.
